Origin: Gollis Mountains, Sanaag Region
Our premium frankincense is sourced from the Sanaag region of Northern Somalia, specifically the Gollis Mountain range — an area globally recognised for producing some of the world’s finest frankincense resin. The unique combination of altitude, climate, and generations of traditional harvesting knowledge results in resin with exceptional aromatic depth, natural oil content, and structural quality.
Boswellia frereana — the “King of Frankincense”
The primary species we work with is Boswellia frereana, locally known as Maydi and often referred to as the “King of Frankincense”. This endemic species is highly valued for its rich balsamic aroma, high natural oil content, and distinctive resin structure, making it the preferred choice for speciality incense, perfumery, and extraction projects.
